When the Chicago Council on Global Affairs cancelled a scheduled talk by Professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt on the topic of their new book, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, the Council was accused of capitulating to pressure from The Israel Lobby itself. The Council’s President Marshall Bouton denied that the action was due to external pressure, or even that a cancellation had, in fact, happened. Bouton says a Council event with Mearsheimer and Walt will occur at a date in the future, but that the authors will be joined in a panel format by other speakers with contrasting views.
The Chicago Council on Global Relations is not the first institution to experience the force of controversy generated by criticism of Israeli policy and the U.S. government’s long-standing support of it. Nor is the Council alone in trying to calculate how to maneuver around the heated controversy that these topics generate.
Less than two months after the cancellation of Mearsheimer and Walt’s talk at the Chicago Council, administrators at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, cancelled a scheduled talk by the Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The cancellation came, university administrators explained, because some past statements by Tutu about Israeli policy were “hurtful to some members of the Jewish community.” Julie Swiler, an employee of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, was consulted by university administrators, along with a few rabbis teaching within St. Thomas' Center for Jewish-Christian Learning. Swiler explained, “I think there’s a consensus in the Jewish community that Tutu’s words were offensive.”(1)
Swiler was referring to remarks allegedly made by Tutu comparing Israel to Hitler. In the weeks after the University of St. Thomas cancelled Tutu’s appearance, it came to light that those comments attributed to Tutu were a fabrication. In paraphrasing remarks by Tutu in Boston conference, Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, distorted Tutu’s remarks in a ZOA press release.(2) The distorted version worked its way into the media and, in the words of the Jewish Daily Forward, “over time it acquired the status of a factual account.”(3)
Like many of the most visible organizations that claim to represent American Jewish interests and to speak for American Jews, the Jewish Community Relations Council for Minnesota and the Dakotas is, among other things, a pro-Israel advocacy organization. Its “Stand Up For Israel” project exists for the purpose of “advocating for peace and security for Israel through education, information and community action.”(4) Jewish community organizations like the JCRC, along with numerous conservative and Christian Zionist organizations, form what Mearsheimer and Walt call The Israel Lobby. According to Mearsheimer and Walt, as well as the many sources they cite in their research, The Lobby acts as an intimidating and coercive force pursuing a mission to suppress criticism of Israeli policy.

Secretary of State Rice, President Bush's national security adviser, and 13 other current and former government officials will be required to testify as defense witnesses at the upcoming trial of two pro-Israel lobbyists for trafficking in classified information, a federal judge ruled yesterday. The absurdly delayed trial will present another problem for the aliens and traitors that sell out American interests for Israeli interests as the officials called to testify will probably be questioned on the details of AIPAC's relations with American leaders.
Whatever is revealed you can count on the Jewish media to downplay it or not report on it at all, they will certainly be searching for any meaningless story that they can use to distract the public from the trial. You can count on plenty of coverage of this trial though, right here on natallnews.
Judge Thomas Ellis III ruled that the two former lobbyists, of course both of them Jewish, for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman, are entitled to the testimony in order to prove that American officals routinely used the pro-Israel group as a back channel to pass "sensitive, non-public" information to the press, foreign government officials, and other foreign policy advocates. Among those subpoenaed are various Jews (a majority subpoenaed are Jews, basically all of the Jewish "neo-con" cabal in the Bush administration), non-Whites, and traitors such as Rice, national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, a former deputy secretary of state, Richard Armitage, a former deputy secretary of defense, Paul Wolfowitz, and several others to testify at the trial expected to begin in January.
Prosecutors objected to most of the subpoenas for various reasons including their claim that it would be "disruptive to government operations." Freedom loving White Americans who want their leaders to serve American interests can only hope that this trial will help to disrupt the current state of affairs in regard to Israel and the United States

"We Jews are supposed to be the people of the book. That is, open to intellectual dialogue. How is it possible to reconcile this with a refusal to hear out one of the major Republican candidates for the presidency?"

The most recent Orange outrage took place on the weekend of Oct. 12-14 at the Irvine Marriott Hotel where the first-ever No More Wars for Israel Conference was scheduled to be held, co-sponsored by the Nationalist Forum and the Crescent and Cross Solidarity Movement, assisted by American Free Press and the Washington, D.C.-based FOUNDATION TO DEFEND THE FIRST AMENDMENT (FDFA); see the insert this week.
Roughly 100 participants from across the country booked into the Marriott and there were indications as many as 100 additional participants would arrive from the local area. Organizers kept the location under wraps until the last minute—and for a good reason: they had learned that numerous Orange County hotels had been contacted and were warned against allowing the conference to be held at any of those venues.
A Marriott representative told Joe Fields—on-site organizer in Orange County—that someone claiming to be with the Irvine Police Department had contacted the hotel, warning that a “hate group” was behind the conference, providing a list of possible “suspects” who might be involved in the conference.
It is not known whether this purported police spokesman was acting on behalf of the police department or whether he was a “dirty cop” inside the police department acting on behalf of the ADL, which has (as we shall see) an ugly history of infiltrating police agencies. Whatever the truth, during the previous several weeks the ADL had utilized its website to announce an impending “anti-Semitic conference” in Orange County posted at the ADL’s so-called Law Enforcement Agency Resource Network (LEARN) link.
For years, through LEARN, the ADL has worked to infiltrate not only federal law enforcement (evidenced by its long-time intertwinement with elements in the FBI) but also at the local level, a point explored in this author’s work, The Judas Goats.
Shocking revelations about ADL infiltration of local police agencies in California (and elsewhere) emerged in 1993 when it was discovered police officers in California had been providing classified law enforcement files to the ADL.
This came to public attention after—ironically—both the San Francisco Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department organized raids on ADL offices in their cities to determine if any of their files had been illegally procured by theADL with the illicit cooperation of police officers who—either willingly or having been compromised by the ADL—had provided such material to the foreign pressure group. Obviously, some honest lawmen objected to the ADL’s activities and were working to bring the ADL to heel.
The resulting scandal —also described in The Judas Goats—unveiled extensive illegal domestic spying by ADL on law-abiding Americans whose only crime was to raise criticism of U.S. support for Israel—was actually reported in detail in daily newspapers in San Francisco and Los Angeles and even referenced on ABC News, perhaps the first time in history anything negative about the ADL was ever described to a mass audience.
It was also revealed that a San Diego County deputy sheriff, Tim Carroll, had a long-standing relationship with the ADL, doing “favors” for the ADL that, in turn, among other things, treated Carroll to at least one allexpenses paid junket to the Middle East. So ADL infiltration of California law enforcement was both deep and wide-ranging.
