وقال الناطق الإعلامي باسم الرابطة إن هذه الرابطة ستعنى بأمور الصحفيين العراقيين المناهضين للاحتلال والرافضين للعملية السياسية التي فرضها على العراقيين من الموجودين داخل العراق وخارجه. وأضاف: ان الرابطة تعمل تحت مظلة الجبهة الوطنية والقومية والإسلامية في العراق، الجناح السياسي للمقاومة الوطنية العراقية، مشيرا إلى أنها خاطبت اتحاد الصحفيين العرب في القاهرة للحصول على اعتراف رسمي بعملها، كما خاطبت المنظمات الصحفية والدولية لاطلاعها على واقع حياة الصحفيين المتضررين في الداخل والصحفيين المهجرين في الخارج والصعوبات التي يعانون منها هم وأسرهم. وأوضح الناطق باسم الرابطة ان الرابطة ستدعو إلى مؤتمر عام لانتخاب رئيس لها وأعضاء لمجلسها المركزي من الموجودين داخل العراق ودول الشتات. وأفاد بان الرابطة تعمل جنباً إلى جنب مع رابطات أخرى للفنانين والأدباء والدبلوماسيين والبرلمانيين والأكاديميين، مضيفاً انها شكلت بالتعاون مع رابطتي الفنانين والأدباء صندوقاً لدعم الفنانين والصحفيين والأدباء العراقيين مهمته تقديم المعونات الطارئة للمحتاجين منهم. He stated that the Association is working together with other associations of artists, writers and diplomats, parliamentarians and academics, adding that it is formed in collaboration with artists and literary links of a fund to support artists, journalists and writers Iraqi mission to provide emergency aid to those in need of them.
