LONDON - Britain's defence ministry says it's investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old Iraqi boy by British soldiers.

The ministry says military police have launched an inquiry into an alleged incident in May 2003 in southern Iraq.

It said in a statement the boy was allegedly assaulted by British troops at a former British base called Camp Breadbasket near the southern city of Basra.

The boy is now 19.

In a separate case, four soldiers were found guilty of mistreating of Iraqi prisoners at Camp Breadbasket by forcing them to simulate sex.
