White House blasts leak of secret Afghanistan documents posted on WikiLeaks whistleblower website
BY Richard Sisk
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
Monday, July 26th 2010, 4:00 AM
Frayer/APThe authenticity of secret Afghanistan documents posted on WikiLeaks was not challenged by the Obama administration. Take our PollAfghanistan documents on WikiLeaks
Does the leaking of secret Afghanistan documents impact your opinion of the war?
Yes. This war has been mishandled more than I thought.
No. Nothing about the documents surprises me.
Massive intelligence leak releases 90,000 previously secret military reports on war in AfghanistanTaliban claim they killed US sailor, took second sailor hostage in Afghanistan as military searchesGen. Petraeus slams Taliban for 'indiscriminate' civilian kills in AfghanistanAfghanistan President Hamid Karzai wants country to take over security responsibilities by 2014The White House lashed out Sunday night at a stunning leak of secret documents that suggest Americans had been misled about the war in Afghanistan.
"The United States strongly condemns the disclosure ... which could put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk and threaten our national security," said National Security Adviser James Jones in a statement.
U.S. officials repeatedly have overplayed the success of drone strikes, the hunt for Al Qaeda and the drive to defeat the Taliban, according to the documents.
The trove of 90,000 documents date from January 2004 through December 2009 and were posted on a website called WikiLeaks.
Their authenticity was not challenged by the Obama administration, which last December ordered 30,000 more troops into the country.
The archive also reveals suspicions by American officers that the ISI, the Pakistan military's intelligence service, has collaborated with insurgents in Afghanistan, in some cases helping plan attacks against Afghan and U.S. forces.
The allegation that elements of the Pakistani intel community were in cahoots with the enemy is no secret; just two months ago Secretary of State Clinton declared she believes "that somewhere in Pakistan's government are people who know where Osama Bin Laden" is hiding.
Jones said that things have changed since last year. "Counterterrorism cooperation has led to significant blows against Al Qaeda's leadership," he said. "The Pakistani military has gone on the offensive in Swat and South Waziristan, at great cost to the Pakistani military and people."
"These irresponsible leaks will not impact our ongoing commitment to deepen our partnerships with Afghanistan and Pakistan to defeat our common enemies," he insisted.
The WikiLeaks archive includes combat video and Pentagon, State Department and CIA cables.
It is believed to have been given first to the online whistleblower group by Army intelligence Spec. Bradley Manning, 22, of Potomac, Md. Manning was arrested by the Army's Criminal Investigation Division in Baghdad in June after boasting online about his exploits.
WikiLeaks gave the archive to The New York Times, the Guardian of London and the German mag Der Spiegel weeks ahead of Sunday night's release online.
In its account, The Times said the documents amounted to a "daily diary of an American-led force often starved for resources and attention as it struggled against an insurgency that grew larger, better coordinated and more deadly each year."
The officials also withheld from the American public the Taliban's use of heat-seeking missiles and the failures and crashes of drones, while portraying as successes operations by special forces that killed civilians, the leaks said.

"The officials also withheld from the American public the Taliban's use of heat-seeking missiles"
So i assume everytime we heard of some chopper crashing for "mechanical failure", it is instead Talibans who are making good use of anti-aircraft missiles! Very good news!

secrecy, everything in government is steeped in secrecy,
which is a cover-up of incompetency of leadership,
whether it be in the military, government or the courts,

By wildly claiming that the leaked docs pose a danger to US Invading forces in Afghan, the White House under "O-bomber" is thoroughly exposed as the naked mouthpiece of US Imperialist aggression. Not only were these leaks docs actual documents from official US sources--thus the authenticity of the horrendous assassinations & killings of hundreds/thousands of ordinary Afghan civilians cannot be challenged--but the real fact is that, if there had not been USA Invaders in Afghan, they were certainly NOT be endangered!
The US response is similar to responses coming out the Goebbels' Ministry of Truth.

Pakistanis question validity, timing, of Wikileaks files

Senior Pakistani government and intelligence officials have reacted angrily to leaked reports, which suggest that Pakistani spy agencies are secretly working with the Taliban to oppose US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan.

American aircraft have never been shot down by enemy fire.
They are simply made so badly that they fall out of the sky.
I believe them. LOL
OK actually I'd believe that friendly fire probably takes down just as many aircraft as enemy fire would when it comes to Americans.

This delibarate leak will be used as a pretext to bomb Pakistan. We have seen this Pakistan obsession lately. Seems to me that ISI is not cooperating as the way their master wanted. Now sheep people will be angry ...why did you hide this from us ? we trust you so dont be ashamed to bomb pakistan. Oh and osama is now in pakistan !! poor pakistan.
''The archive also reveals suspicions by American officers that the ISI, the Pakistan military's intelligence service, has collaborated with insurgents in Afghanistan, in some cases helping plan attacks against Afghan and U.S. forces.

Osama is dead before 911 thats why he was choosen as the boogy man, so this leak is a delibarate attempt to mislead people. I would like to see a leak where we read something like operation north woods type of thing on 911 and some names in the US government who actively engineered and executed the attack. That will be a leak.

You are absolutely correct about the 911 lack of leaks. We've seen written what he said/she said regarding the FAA and what Cheney said in the bunker, but no actual leaks.

Yes, you have a point. Where is the mother of all leaks: Where is the 911 inside job leak?
And nothing new in these "leaked documents". Some gurus even question whether Wikileaks is bona fide as an organisation. No transparency in funding, and who these people are.
For example, John Young of cryptome.org asks how come the leaked documents were not digitally signed by Wikileaks as is their practise. And why did Wiki leak these documents first to the NYT, the Guardian, and Stern, before releasing them to the public. Lies and Truth always mixed to make propaganda believable.

All or most of you have seen through the utter irrelevance of the so-called leaks.
As for Pakiland, forget it. They have as little hope of bombing it back to the stone age as of landing on the moon, exactly nil. Though, god knows, the puppet govt there would no doubt be all in favour if the price were right.
How about the Pentagon telling the world it's time to withdraw from the quagmire? No way to victory in Afghanistan?

We , readers of Iraq-war , know about the futile US wars for many years , but what about the average Joe Blow ?
The undeniable fact is that the major media networks and Newspapers have been forced to talk about Wikileaks and the failed wars in Afghanistan and Iraq . You have to think about the average guy that believes the BS the mass media peddle , but now the mass media talks about the massive failure and blunders of successive US administrations plus war crimes .
It seems that there are suspicious circumstances in Wikileaks exposure , one strange comment came from the Chief of Wikileaks . He mentioned that people talk about the 9-11 conspiracy . I interpreted it as if does not believe that it was an inside job !

So there you have it: Iran, North Korea, Bin Laden (sic), Pakistan: all villains conspiring against god bless America.
"On 19 November 2005, Hezb-e-Islami party leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Dr Amin (NLN) no last name, Osama bin Laden's financial adviser, both flew to North Korea, departing from an sic Iran. They returned to Helmand on approximately 3 December 2005. While in North Korea, the two confirmed a deal with the North Korean government for remote controlled rockets for use against American and coalition aircraft."
"Direct co-operation including weapons sales between al-Qaida, North Korea's regime, and the Afghan insurgents, apparently with a helping hand from Iran, could amount to Washington's worst security nightmare."
and:
"...meetings take place once every month, and there are usually about 20 people present. The place for the meeting alternates between Quetta and villages (NFDG) no further details given on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan."
"The top four people in these meetings are Mullah Omar the Taliban leader, Osama bin Laden, Mullah Dadullah and Mullah Baradar."

Assange has attacked skepticism of the official 9/11 narrative.
As to "average Joes" now being confronted with difficult realities of the occupation, the leak exposed very little truly harmful facts whereas the warmongering narrative that Iran and Pakistan are actively supporting resistance fighters is now almost universally believed.
This is the #1 propaganda message for expanding the wars for Israel to a far larger theater which includes Pakistan and Iran.
Jewish "left" mouthpiece Amy Goodman jumped right on cue with the worst possible pro-war acceptance of the allegations as being real. No surprise there.

... The most politically salient issue highlighted by the new documents, however, is Pakistan's political and material support for the Taliban insurgency, despite its ostensible support for U.S. policy in Afghanistan.
The documents include many intelligence reports about Lt. Gen. Hamid Gul, the director of the ISI, Pakistan's military intelligence agency, in the late 1980s, continuing to work with the Taliban commanders loyal to Mullah Omar as well as the Jalaluddin Haaqani and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar insurgent networks.
Some of the reports obviously reflect the anti-Pakistan bias of the Afghan intelligence service when it was under former Northern Alliance intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh. Nevertheless, the overall impression they convey of Pakistani support for the Taliban is credible to the news media, because they confirm numerous press reports over the past few years...
The leak confirms and legitimizes the worst warmongering lies that the NYT has been trotting out. Never mind that it is all uncorroborated and simply the regurgitation of what operatives thought that their superiors wanted to hear.

That is the speech of Assange with hist strange remarks on the 9/11 .
But after this event do you think that it is going to be easier for OH BANANA to push for a war against Iran ? I know that this event can be used in many ways by any party .
The document seem to point to Pakistan not cooperating with the invasion forces . why should Pakistan cooperate in the first place ? Osama is alive and well .... may be , probably not . The US is involved in war crimes . But as I mentioned before more people are now aware that the the US is losing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and those wars are criminals .

The modus operandi is this :
1) establish a crowd of 'followers " of the website with the publishing of information of limited value that could be already available on line or through " whistle blowers ,
2) Continue the pattern for years if necessary and then the big " sting " operation .
Notable operation that came unstuck recently are : Project Avalon and Project Camelot .
Persons that lost credibility are the multitude of notable people that refuse to believe that the 9/11 was inside job .

That's just spin to justify more massive aerial strikes and use of drones, etc... IMO
If the Talibans had SAMs they would be many more choppers and cargo planes downed by them.
Not to speak about that if you've got SAMs you can rather easily use them as surface to surface weapons for say, devastating attacks in Kabul on foreign invader and puppet regime buildings and armoured vehicles or such, but we've seen absolutely none of that, think about it...

This "leak" has got so much attention in the whoring media that all supicion alarm clocks should ring by now. We all know that the real nasty facts don't get advertised, and that the Revolution won't be televised.
So I'm bound to think this is a "leak" sanctioned directly from Washington, to get out of A-stan with a face-saver. Instead of running like cowards, the motivation will be that the troops are "under extreme risk" (yeah, rite) from some things that happened years ago.
The hunt for Assange is probably also part of the drama theatre.
