Russia: Iran's nuclear plant to start next week

MOSCOW – Russia's nuclear agency said Friday that it will load fuel into Iran's first nuclear power plant next week, defying U.S. calls to hold off the start of the launch.
Rosatom spokesman Sergei Novikov said Friday that uranium fuel shipped by Russia will be loaded into the Bushehr reactor on Aug. 21, beginning the startup process.
"From that moment the Bushehr plant will be officially considered a nuclear-energy installation," he told The Associated Press.
The United States has called for Russia to delay the startup until Iran proves that it's not developing nuclear weapons. Russian officials said that the latest U.N. sanctions against Iran won't affect the Bushehr project.
Russia signed a $1 billion contract in 1995 for building the Bushehr plant, but it has dragged its feet on completing the project for years.
Moscow has cited technical reasons for the delays, but analysts say Moscow has used the project to press Iran to ease its defiance over its nuclear program.
Novikov said that Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko will travel to Bushehr in southern Iran for the Aug. 21 ceremony, which will also be attended by the Iranian Vice President Ali Akbar Salehi, who also heads the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in March that the Bushehr plant would begin operating this summer. Some Iranian lawmakers have accused Russia of delaying the project under the Western pressure.

Russia has no other choice than finish that 'eternal building site'
and start the reactor at Bushehr.
As long as she doesn't, no other country would even remotely
consider purchasing a Russian built nuclear power plant.
Already construction delay of NPP Bushehr of close to 10 years
has been raising the eyebrows in the nuclear scientific
community all over the world.
Most probably this lag will keep hanging on to Rosatom as
a ridicule and joke for at least one generation.

Nuclear Fuel - which was the critical part, objected to by the US - was delivered some 12 months ago, so I see no reason why the plant should not start now, thus giving a big boost to Iran's prestige in the region, besides mere electricity...
My best wishes to Iran in its fight against the ZIONAZIS and other assorted ZIOPROPS...
Btw, China recently received 15 S-300 batteries from Russia, at a time it is also building similar copycat weapons called HQ-15 to HQ-19, depending on range...

I can't help but believe you. I firmly believe that Russia is playing a game my aunt described by way of catching boyfriends, "Let them chase you till you catch them." I believe that is what Russian leadership is playing with the West's doing the likes of parking NATO on her doorsteps.

That reason fits China more than Russia.
Russia has every reason of ensuring that Iran is destroyed or at least it's nuclear fuel production is destroyed.
China on the other had is far smarter.
China knows who the enemy is ... and appears to be the only military who have read Sun Tsu rendition of the Art of War.
China knows the enemy is the US and it's puppets and therefore would also know that by aiding Iran in it's defense, it would enable Iran to destroy more of China's enemy while leaving China complete.
IF and that's a big IF ... Iran has achieved the S-300 system it will be too late to make copies of it's own and not enough to complete the job.
China is more likely to supply just enough to allow both attackers and defenders to destroy themselves.
Middle east war finished (as far as China is concerned) China can now look at the US Pacific war with a smile.

Busher power generating facilities were started to be built by Americans, under Shah.
I thing they were building it for ore than forty years before Russians took it over.
(On the other hand Russians were not too fast either.)
Maybe the delays were for political reasons in both cases.
Probably not technical.

Iran is beginning to make nuclear fuel that when in full production will be being sold in the same market place as Russia intends to sell it's nuclear fuel.
Russia's government owned nuclear fuel plants have every reason to ensure that Iran is destroyed or at least its nuclear fuel production is destroyed.
