Cameron 'nearly assassinated in Afghanistan'
By politics.co.uk staff
The prime minister narrowly avoided being assassinated during a recent trip to Afghanistan, it has emerged.
Intercepted communication between Taliban fighters revealed that they were aware which helicopter he was on during a visit to a base in Helmand, according to some media reports.
The trip was quickly averted, with David Cameron's helicopter turned away just ten minutes from the base.
The communication between militants, who are understood to have possessed heat-seeking, shoulder launched missiles, referred to one Chinook carrying the "big commander".
An urgent review into the prime ministers' security on visits to war zones is understood to have been launched, although Downing Street itself never comments on security arrangements.
There is particular concern about pre-trip publicity, which gives the Taliban time to piece together an attack plan using sources within the military and intelligence services.
A news black out is a distinct possibility, with the media only being made aware of trips once they are completed, - the manner adopted during Liam Fox's recent trip to the area.
Alternatively, news conferences with foreign leaders, such as Afghan president Hamid Karzai, may only take place at the very end of the trip to avoid drawing attention to the PM's presence.

It can be readily decrypted by US-aligned countries. UAE and other M.E. countries are banning it since the company won't share the decryption algorithm.

yeh....that's the "standard" BlackBerry encryption....but....doesn't it also support a "cut-down" version of PGP?....if so: the jewSA would have a considerably more difficult time "decrypting" such msg....also: nothing wrong with the old "one-time pad"....THAT is, virtually, un-crackable!

"the" "standard" "BlackBerry" "encryption" "and" "also" "other" "forms" "of" "compromised" "PGP" "public/private-pair" "encryption" "can" "be" "passed" "on" "to" "authorities".
OK, enough of this quote nonsense (my point is, please don't overuse it). One time pads are the only form of encryption I use.

Good catch! I would only add that that the writer isn't necessarily retarded (could be) but an arrogant piece of imperial shit.

has ALWAYS maintained that it is NOT "compromised"!
any-way: you can always 'steg' yr encrypted msg...i.e: drop it into a sound or pic file!
Wiki..... h ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Good_Privacy ;
h ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-time_pad ;
i'd "back" PGP against ANY US authorities except, perhaps, the NSA...wtf knows what THOSE goblins have got up their sleeves, eh?!?.....but, allowing for inter-agency rivalry, it is unlikely that NSA decryptions would come fast enough to prevent a shoot-and-scoot incident with less than 24-hrs notice

It's all about symmetry.
Blackberry et al are decryptable by the Canadian, US, German, French and some unspecified western nations, but not by most Eastern countries. Blackberries were used by the mossad agents to coordinate each other in the UAE. Blackberry refused to hand over the decryption algorithm/code.
In any case, they should be ban since they are susceptible to interception! As with 3G, GSM, etc.

It's not so much PGP itself, but the fact that the private key can be intercepted when used on a blackberry.
I have a few friends who work in intelligence and they tell me it is quite difficult to crack anything about 96-bits of encryption, they usually use a "backdoor" method in order to decrypt it.

You should never underestimate these people, for a long time they knew of flaws in SHA-1. Much of their work in mathematics is unpublished and they've poached most of the young talent. Many of these people will never be able to claim credit for their work.
