Paris, France (AHN) - French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner is ready to do everything to save Iran’s Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who is facing a death sentence for committing adultery.

The minister said that he was even ready to go to Tehran to save her. Koucher’s comments came while he was speaking to Ashtiani’s lawyer Mohammad Mostafei at a meeting in Paris on Monday.

He told Mostafei that he was personally attached to Ashtiani's case.

His comments also came a day after the Vatican hinted that it would diplomatically urge Iran to withdraw their decision.

An Iranian court in July sentenced Ashtiani to death by stoning for having an illegitimate affair with two men.

An international outcry forced the court to suspend her death sentence temporarily but the woman was still under fear of execution anytime.
