this should send a shiver down the spine of anyone who still has a spine

John Gardner is the Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford, and occasional Visiting Professor at Yale Law School.
He has very impressive biographical notes indeed. His article about the Police State concerns the killing of Mr Jean Charles de Menezes, responsibility for that act and the response of the government to "terrorism". The article should be read in full.

I thought this was rather good. It echoes something Tet was saying yesterday about risk, and exaggeration of risk.
Why is parliament so silent about the police chief's current cavalier attitude to the law?

you said Shoot to Kill...is murder. So what has Britain become on
'Monday Vigil at Stockwell Station Publicity' thread. I was going to post this in reply to your comments but too many people replied in between. The fact is the police acted illegally and that is why I have posted this as a separate thread.
There are special police powers to arrest and search. But there is no
special police licence to injure or kill. If they injure or kill, the police
need to rely on the same law as the rest of us.
The fact is that the police acted illegally when they killed Jean Charles de Menezes and there is no law in this country to absolve what they did.

I have popped that still into Photoshop CS, blown it to extremes and used the sharpen tool and it looks bloody dodgy to me. . This is strange.
Even if his arm is bent it appears that his coat is behind the railing in an almost impossible manner. When enlarged, the rail does appear to be partially in front of his face but the other end of the rail seems to extend beyond the corner of the handrail. If you really blow it to pixel level the rail line certainly appears continuous. I do not like the fuzziness to the right of the last figure it is the only area of the picture that I can see that is pixel blur. I would not like to speculate on there being a reflection present.
This one needs an expert opinion.

Great article, indeed. I like the fact that you've added legal opinions to back up your points. Well done!

I'm now wondering whether the 7/7 blasts (that came one day after London was awarded the 2012 Olympic Games) was the Israeli calling card discreetly indicating that they want the security contracts for the London Games.
It's of great concern that with international security firms handling contracts for transport and sporting venues - such as Fortress GB - many of these have israeli connections. That gives the israelis unfettered scope to arrange terrorist stunts wherever they want. They can blackmail the London Olympics Committee for the security contracts: they got the Athens Games security contracts. It's "give us the contracts or else!!!".

It is an indisputable fact that terrorist attacks could have come at any time... but they happened to occur at the earliest possible opportunity after the UK got the 2012 Olympic Games.
You could be right.

Was, that i boarded a Train which at the same time was boarded 3 Military personell... At 5am, They had their full gear on their backs and although "dressed" civilian, they carried massive bags in their hands. What gave it away was that they had Military helmets embedded in their bags.
Appearing to be very antisocial it seemed too, perhaps these guys were special forces headed to London? But why would Military use Civilian trains? :S

Sadly the brazilian man killed was innocent but the police did the right thing. They approached him, identified themselves and he ran.
put yourself in the shoes of the cop..... A suspected suicide bomber was running on to a train. What would you have done?
